Soteria was born in late 2022, after the Covid ashes had cooled down, as the brainchild of mother-and-daughter team Melissa Desai and Alicia Kotze. Soteria's ancient namesake is rooted in Greek mythology where Soteria was the minor goddess of safety, preservation from harm, and deliverance from danger. It is with this in mind that she was chosen to represent the values embraced at Soteria, values that echo and embody the idea of protection, peach of mind and resilience.
Melissa has worked in the insurance broking industry for more than 30 years, in various roles at a major bank group in Namibia and South Africa. As such, she brings her vast experience and knowledge, to meet with customer service. Her aim for Soteria is to bring a personal touch to each and every client, while providing maximum value for money in the form of premium savings and underwriting advice.
Alicia had worked in the hospitality industry and later on as the "right-hand-man" to the owner of a large manufacturing concern. After realizing that she enjoys the inner workings of managing a business, the idea was pitched, and voila! Alicia's youthful energy, innovative ideas and technical knowledge bring an indispensable asset to the duo, while also realizing the objective to provide clients with an impactful relationship during which their highest expectations can be met.
